Pattern little snowman

In November I was a member of a Christmas roundup with this pattern, It was a reel success! Thanks to Veronika of bluestarcrochet.com for organizing this hart warming event!

If you are looking for an eye-catcher for this Christmas season, you can crochet these cute little snowmen! With these cute little snowmen you can decorate your Christmas table in a beautiful way, or even decorate a Christmas tree with them!
All you need is a little bit of light cotton, white and a different color, an LED tea light and wiggle eyes.
The pattern is not very difficult, it consists of 2 parts, the head and a hat. A small snowman is made in about half an hour!

Material

  • hook pin Europe: 3, US : D/3,  GB : 10 (see conversion table)
  • fine cotton : white, black, red and a color to choose for the had( ex drops safran)
  • led tea light
  • 2 wobble eyes 4mm diameter

Material

  • hook pin Europe: 3, US : D/3,  GB : 10 (see conversion table)
  • fine cotton : two colors white (8m), black for the eyebrows (+-50cm), red  (+- 50cm) for the mouth and a color to choose for the had (8m)
  • led tea light
  • 2 wobble eyes 4mm diameter, self-adhesive wiggle eyes so you don’t need extra glue

Gauge

22 stitches in a row and 25 rows makes a square of 10 by 10 cm

The head

Start with a magical ring with 16 double crochets as the first round, put on the ring until you have a small hole left for the nose. Close the ring with a slip stitch

Round 2 : *2 double crochets in the first stitch , 1 double crochet in the next double crochet*, repeat * until the end of the round, close with a slip stitch.

Round 3 : *2 double crochets in the first stitch, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 1 double crochet in the next stitch*, close the round with a  slip stitch,

Round 4 :  crochet a round with reversed double crochets,  close the round with a slip stitch,  that is how to start with the border of the head. You see what you get in the picture below after this round.

Round 5-6-7-8 : crochet these 4 rounds with the usual  double crochets, close the rounds with a slip stitch.

Round 9 : *crochet 4 double crochets, skip 1 stitch*, repeat * until the end of the round, close the round with a slip stitch

Round 10 : crochet the final round with double crochets and close the round with a slip stitch.

End the head!

The hat

Start with a magical ring of 8 double crochets as the first round, tighten the ring well and close the ring with a slip stitch.

Round 2 : double each double crochet of the previous round in the next round with double crochets, close the round with a slip stitch.

Round 3 : Crochet the next round with reversed double crochets, so you get here also a little border, close the round with a slip stitch.

Round 4-5-6 : crochet these round with the usual double crochets, and close these rounds always with a slip stitch.

Round 7 : Crochet the next round with reversed double crochets, so you get here also a little border, close the round with a slip stitch.

Round 8 : double each stitch with double crochets. Close the round with a slip stitch

Round 9 : *2 double crochets in the next stitch of the previous round , 1 double crochet in the next stitch of the previous round*,  repeat * until  the end of the round, close the round with a slip stitch. 

Round 10 : *2 double crochets in the next stitch of the previous round, 1 double crochet in the next stitch of the previous round,  1 double crochet in the next stitch of the previous round*, repeat * until the end of the round, close with a slip stitch.

Close the head.

When you want to hang them up

Make a chain of 20 loops, crochet the first loop to the last one en sew the closed chain onto the head.

Finishing touch

Sew eyebrows and mouth on the head , pull now the cover over the light and stick wiggle eyes  under the eyebrows.

  1. dank je voor het patroon, ik ga kijken of ik nog tijd heb om ze te maken. wij hebben 17 januarie, winter sfeer op school. leuk om dan van deze kaarsjes te verkopen of om neer te zetten,
    is het patroon ook in het nederlands verkrijgbaar, dat leest net iets makkelijker.

    1. Ja, het is in het Nederlands beschikbaar, via de menubalk kan je op de Belgische vlag aanklikken en dan krijg je het patroontje in het Nederlands. Heel leuk om te horen. Ik heb er in ieder geval succes mee voor de warmste week.De teller voor het aantal gaat iedere dag omhoog!
